Thomas Campbell
Sheri Susan Thomas |
Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away to the next room.
I am I and you are you. Whatever we were to each other,
That, we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name.
Speak to me in the easy way
which you always used.
Put no difference into your tone.
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed
at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, and think of me. Pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word
that it always was.
Let it be spoken without effect.
Without the trace of a shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was.
There is absolute unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind
because I am out of sight?
I am but waiting for you.
For an interval
somewhere. Very near.
Just around the corner.
Henry Scott Holland
When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.
We treasure the memory of Sheri, our daughter in law, who left us forever this day last year. I can’t write anything more about her. My daughter used to tell me “ Acha, you love her more than me”.
And she loved us all in her own special ways. She was just an angel who lost her way.
I am at loss of words. I am sorry; may peace be with her and I would pray the Almighty to give you the strength.
ReplyDeleteterribly sorry to hear about your daughter in law. i knew she was ailing (from one of your comments) and tho i hadnt the courage to ask,i used to wonder how she was, and also pray for her.
ReplyDeletemay her soul rest in peace.
Until this moment i never understood the real meaning of loss. On this day we should remember her in a joyous way as she will not like us crying and being sad. Praying her memory will always be a treasure to all.
ReplyDeleteMay God give you the strength to move on..She must have been a wonderful person...
ReplyDeleteWhile what Thomas Campbell says makes perfect sense, it's nevertheless not easy at all to let go once you're forced, by circumstances, to actually let go. But still it offers some consolation that can and does ease a life hard to survive at those moments that remind one of the one who lost their way.
ReplyDeleteSad to learn of the loss, even sadder to learn of what it must mean to you having to live with the loss. Hope you find the strength in the wonderful memories from time past.
May the Almighty give you the strength to bear the loss and may your Angel continue to inspire others.
ReplyDeleteThough you had spoken to me about her, now I realize the depth of your sorrow. My heartfelt condolences!
ReplyDeleteDr Antony,
ReplyDeleteVery sorry to hear about it. Very touching write up. Felt very sad but somewhere I felt good that your Daughter in Law was lucky to have parents in law like yourself.
"Each death is an opportunity to be awake"
ReplyDeleteMove on . Do we have another alternative ?
Time and time alone will be of help.
Easier said than done isn't it so ?
very touchy.
ReplyDeletethis poem reminds me all the deaths i saw in my life, all the loved ones i saw departing to other world. Its really impressive how this simple poem changed the view of death altogether.
thanks for sharing such optimistic views.
If only we could... - like the poem suggests...
ReplyDeleteWishing you happy memories of her...
Sheri was a wonderful person, an angel on earth. I have never heard her speak ill of anyone in this world. Her loving smile used to spread so much happiness around her...guess there won't be enough words to describe her.
ReplyDeleteMay God bless her soul and keep her very next to HImself in His heavenly abode
Dr. Antony, So sorry for your loss..no words to console..but hope you are strong enough to move on..
ReplyDeleteGod give you the strength to bear the loss. Keep her in your heart and memories always and love her as you do now. May God bless her soul.
